Year 11 pupils at Swinton Academy took part in experiencing a job interview scenario thanks to the partnership between GMI and the Salford Foundation.
Led by GMI’s Responsible Business Partner for the North West, Daniel Proffitt, the event was the perfect opportunity for the students to improve their confidence ahead of the real thing in the near future.
Lasting no more than 20 minutes, the students answered a variety of questions in relation to their skills and experiences, before having the chance to quiz Daniel on his career at GMI.
All interviews ended with the pupils receiving feedback on their performance and how they could improve moving forward.
Ruby Mimmack, the Raising Aspirations Co-ordinator at the Salford Foundation and event organiser said: “These mock interviews are a significant marker in pupils’ career journey and for many it is their first chance to speak to an employer about their skills and aspirations.
“GMI’s continued support of these events and the effort put into the pupils is fantastic and it really does make a difference.”
Daniel Proffitt, Responsible Business Partner for the North West, said: “These sessions in some ways are the best part of working in the Responsible Business department as it epitomises what GMI is about with regards to inspiring the
next generation.
“The mock interviews really bring the students out of their shell and exposes them to what it might be like in a real-life situation.
“I’m there to help the pupils and make them feel comfortable with the process, and it was clear to see how engaged they were with the sessions.”
