Gary Oates promoted to Divisional Managing Director of #GMINorthEast

Gary Oates has been promoted to Managing Director in the North East.

GMI CEO, Lee Powell, lured Gary back to the business to take up the newly-created role of North East Operations Director over 12-months ago and now, following an outstanding performance from his region, Gary has been appointed as MD.

Gary’s DNA is very much GMI, having previously spent more than 16 years with our business, starting as a site manager before progressing to contracts manager, eventually leaving for a senior management position and directorship.

On his return Gary has led the North East remit to new heights following the region’s transition out of the Yorkshire division to a powerful and profitable business unit in its own right.

GMI’s growth strategy in the North East, spearheaded by Gary, is seriously gathering pace with new contracts wins. Building on the strong foundation of North Durham Retail Park at Eldiss and Hilthorn Business Park in Washington, GMI has moved quickly to secure new major works at the £75m Integra 61 scheme in Durham, with other schemes set to be announced.
