GMI MD predicts bright future in the North East

In the second GMI Managing Director Blog, Gary Oates, MD for the North East, shares his excitement for the region

It’s no wonder the North East team is settling in so well to its new 5,200 sq. ft office in Cavendish House, Stockton-on-Tees, after all the building was built by GMI back in 2002!

With a long history of delivering fantastic projects in this region, it established our first office in the Tees Valley back in October 2021.

Since then, GMI has created a North East Division and our construction management team has expanded from two to 25, with plenty of space to accommodate future growth plans.

It was certainly great timing when Tees Valley Major Ben Houchen, who officially opened our riverside office, took the opportunity to announce that GMI will deliver the first industrial unit at Teesside Airport’s £200m business park.

Ben’s office was the place where the biggest decisions in the North East have been made and fast-forward to today, we anticipate a bright future – all coming out of our new Stockton home as we service the entire North East region. It’s an incredibly exciting time for us.

On top of that, we are currently involved in several high-profile projects, including 362,600 sq. ft of commercial units at Hillthorn Business Park, Washington, and the 650,000 sq. ft Connect warehouse and logistics scheme at Integra 61, near Durham.

GMI’s investment in the Tees Valley and wider North East underlines the importance of the region to this business and we hope to announce a strong pipeline of projects over the coming months.
